Projects of enduring value would be advanced through this committee. Characteristics of such projects may include but are not limited to significant content, large size, relative complexity, multiple access path requirements, and major resource requirements. Small, individual and informal projects do not fall within the purview of the committee.
The criteria are guidelines for the selection of projects. They are intended to be comprehensive, but not exhaustive. Individual projects may not fulfill all criteria but their objectives must be consistent with the mission of the University Libraries and comply with intellectual property rights law and practice.
The project is central to the University Libraries mission and current strategic directions
The project supports instructional and research programs of the University.
The project is a collaborative effort within the University, with the Greater Cincinnati Community, or the academic and research library community at large.
The project provides a resource of enduring value to the academic community and/or the general community.
The project includes materials in the public domain or materials for which copyright clearance or written permission for publication or open access on the World Wide Web have been obtained
The project creates new content, e.g. a collection of materials from disparate physical locations, or the addition of content and value through indexing, cataloging or electronic access technologies.
The project is manageable in terms of collection size and available resources.
The project is such that sources of external funding can be identified and pursued.
The project can be used to generate funds.
